These are some of my tips on how to stay organised or for you to get your life
a little more together and ordered to be that extra bit productive. I am not the most organised person, especially when the
work load gets more intense and suddenly there are far too many things to do in a
day, it just gets on top of me. However whenever my deadline is due and I
finally have a free day before the next module starts, I use it to relax, slow
things down and attempt to get my life together again. No one’s perfect and
student life can be hard! Being poor, having no time or money to do anything,
forever wanting a social life and to be doing anything other than uni work 24/7!
These are five things I try to do, to get my life more
organised and less stressed so I can function properly.
1. Plan:
Before you start
anything or if you find it hard to start anything, make a plan of everything
you need to do. It allows you to work out where to start and to know everything you
have to do which is more realistic then pretending you can whack out the essay in an hour. If you have a lot to do, it’s better to
plan your time and understand the amount you have to do instead of ignoring it
and pretending it’s nothing and then running into all nighters.
For example having a spring clean in your
bedroom will consist of; tidying things away, changing the bed sheets, cleaning
the sides, hoovering etc. When I break up the things I have to do, it seems a
lot less daunting and allows me to know where to start instead of just
thinking.. Eugh I need to tidy my room.
2. Lists:
So similar to planning, but I felt lists needed its own
title as I am forever creating lists in my phone notes, writing things down so
I don’t forget anything I need to do, yet can’t be bothered to do at that moment.
However I know people who like to do hand written lists as nothing is more
satisfying than at the end of the day ticking off everything you’ve done and
feeling more productive.
3. Calendar/Diary:
I put all of my plans and all of the things I have to do in
my phone calendar. This allows me to see how busy my day will be and remember
everything I have to do with little reminders.
Therefore
you can plan your time wisely, and allocate days to do your work etc. without
clashing it with other arrangements. I do know people who put
everything in their diary and like to write everything about each task or thing
they need to do. Whatever works for you!
4. Tidy space:
Wherever you do your
work, it is far better having a clean side and plenty of space to lay out your
work so you can properly get your head down. Similarly when you relax in your
bedroom or wherever it is at the end of the day, I know I can’t properly relax
if everything is a mess and it just stresses me out because it feels like I
have so much more to do.
5. Stay Motivated:
Whatever you do, stay motivated for sure! Don’t give up even
if everything is stressing you out as you are not the only one that feels like
that, don’t worry we all have those days! Prioritise your time, least do it for
yourself if no one else as you know you need to get your work done, if there is
a deadline that is the most important thing. However, it shouldn’t be all work
and no play, give yourself breaks and time to wind down at the end of the day
to do something you like, for example having a bath and chatting to friends.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope that help and allowed
you to have a slightly better idea on how to get organised! Love from tishhlah
